000
I was approached by the artist 000 to create a music video for their new EP. After getting a good understanding as to what they wanted I thought of using point cloud data in Blender to create something somewhat unique. Themes around mental health, integrity and water were high on the list.
Filming and converting into point cloud data was the initial plan, but due to time and gpu constraints I chose to work with free data. Thankfully a point cloud was found that I could work the themes around. A crumbling, compromised castle resting on a scarred landscape.

Creating the scan line was pretty easy and quite effective

I was working with 1.5million points as that’s all my machine would realistically allow once I’d apply shader nodes. This was down from 15million in the original data. With the help of Keir Chaggar-Brown designing a workflow that would work with gpu limitations I was able to crack on with the creative side of the project.
I started work on this setup. The blue box controls the gradient for the point cloud. The green box is the scan line that moves over the point cloud.
