B4 Magazine

Design / Photography / Video

B4 is one of the most successful Business magazines in the country.

The magazine is a fantastic way to stay up to date with business news and developments in the Thames Valley. Strong design coupled with fantastic photography and articles really helps the magazine excel in being an important part of the local business lifestyle.

Having previously worked as designer/art editor for the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire editions of the magazine, I now concentrate on providing photography and video for the business while still designing layouts on the side when needed. Developing this side of the business has been real fun allowing me to visit amazing locations for photoshoots and working directly with our customers to create some excellent work.

The structure of B4 was designed so that even an overstretched team could complete the work in time. Clear rules were made so that a single designer could, for most of the time, handle the whole magazine solo (regarding layout and design). The Magazine was once quarterly but due to popularity is now bi-monthly standing at around 152 pages.

Although I have taken a step back from the magazine in terms of design and layout I do still from time to time step in to help.

Video Interviews

With the new B4 website launched I wanted to push video content to users to give our articles more impact.

We started with creating packages for clients to have video as an option, then worked hard to have a firm plan in place for all videos made under B4. Already very popular, B4 TV will span our events, business spotlights, interviews, news and documentaries.

Our B4 advert was pretty fun to make. Looking forward to a few others in the coming months.

This format was also used for our website tutorials. (See here)

I’ve been lucky enough to be B4’s photographer for over 6 years. Taking photos for a mix of cover shots, article images and most of our networking events.
